nunny Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 I have searched and this has been touched upon in other posts but not the answer I require. Ive been asked to cover x2 20 m pieces of slick litebeam with a black material when hung, I'm wondering if anybody uses any kind of disposable "stretchy sock" as it were material?? Ive seen the system called BOXT from mushroom but feel this isn't ideal. I thought a good solution would to get a piece of stretchy material and slide the truss effectively into it then either cut holes to hand fixtures or if stretchy enough just hang straight onto the fabric! Many thanks
niclights Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Do you need to cover it on all sides? Traditionally you would use a truss border, commonly bolton twill IIRC with theatre ties. I think it would be very expensive to get a stretchy sock, not to mention a nightmare to fit and deal with logistics of how to fix truss supports/hang things/cables(?) If you need tighter cover/top/botton then something with bungees - I have used ripstop nylon successfully for this which pulls tight but is not cheap. JC&Joel were my supplier. HTH

dave singleton Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Can you not just get away with a truss sock? We made some up for the liverpool summer pops. Its just black material with velcro strips running the length of the span truss, the material pieces are just bigger than the width of the truss and by using the velcro it enables you to neatly cover the truss and hang fixtures.
nunny Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007 Seeing as this was dropped on me last minute I opted to price in a disposable option. I ordered some bolton and after all fixtures were hung cable tied lengths of 2x1 wood to the bottom cords. I then cut the bolton into 5m lengths and 2 different sizes width ways, the first was the distant between the wood and the second the distance from one cord over the top cord to the other piece of wood, then just stapled it all!!. Result was very good and neat (feel sorry for the youngest lad I set with a sharpie painting staples) Thanks all for your help.
