Light Console Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 We have LOTS of CCT Miuettes, and these too burn out their holders. I think it is just one of those things that happens with age. Maybe the base gets over hot, pins made out of spec, beyond that, don't know. I was once told that MK1 Minuette lamp holders were rated at 500w max. MK2 had up to 650w. What can happen is that a 650w lamp goes in a 500w holder, and slowly burns it out. Thus I only pop a 500w lamp into any Minuettes I work with. Whether this is true or not, I have no idea, unlike the lamps, there is no rating marked on the holders.
Neil Hampson Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I am sure I have at least one MkI that is stamped as 500Watt. I think a MkI is denoted by the fluted round tilt knob, rather than the 'T' handle, and the smaller, square CCT logo, rather than the larger italic font and huge '18-57' label.

I suspect the Minuette may predate the 650W bulbs existenxe though :-) The whole lamptrays not that expensive.
