Rob Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I need some temporary roadway for an outdoor event in the summer. I've had a quote from Eve Trakway which is a bit above our budget. Does anyone have any experience of the rolatrac products (now owned by Eve as well)? I've been offered Supatrak and I'm interested to know if anyone has had any experience with this - We need about 800mtrs and have to drive a double decker bus over it as well as several hundred cars. Alternatively, does anyone know of any other suppliers? Thanks :-)

Piers Shepperd Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Rolatrak have been good on stuff we've done with them previously. Supa-trac will be on its limit for a double decker bus but will be cheaper then the heavy duty products - alli-trac or their new I-tracWhat will govern the end result will be the quality of the ground you are laying it on - uneven damp ground and the supa-trac may start popping apart its clips when you put a heavy load on it.The heavy duty products will stay together (due to bolting and coffin catches respectively) whatever the load but are more expensive. The other problem you run into with these products is when you're turning a heavy load. A long truck with three axles on its trailer MAY scrub the panels up if turned in a tight radius. You shouldn't run into this problem with a bus (assuming it only has one rear axle). Cars and light vans shouldn't be a problem. a) If you want total peace of mind go with Alli-trac but if you decide to use Supa-trak confirm by written fax that you will be using a bus and number of cars etc. Indicate that if the product doesn't perform adequately you will expect the supplier to install the heavier duty product free of charge. Their reaction will tell you alot!b) Get peace of mind by trying it out. Get them to send a pallet of Supa-trak mid week and drive vehicles over a small section. If you go for it then they should include any costs in the main order. We went with a cheaper product for Doha called Hexadeck from Signature systems in the US. This worked really well for the show, but would scrub up panels with tightly turning heavy 40' container trucks. We mitigated damage with driver training! The end result was fantastic (I think we laid over 13,000 SQM!) and highly recommended for lighter duty work. THey are US based but worth contacting for a quote. We were so worried about the consequences of ordering so much and getting it wrong that we did much testing of different products before ordering. Rola-trac were exceedingly pro-active in helping us, but Signature won due to strength of the pound. If competitive use this to beat up other suppliers. Misc photos;Linked photo of track protection testing in Doha - Rolatrac behind and hexadeck in front.Linked photo of hexadeck laid with Alli-trac panel loose in foreground - We used the alli-trac for heavy duty crane usage (mainly under their outriggers). Good luck, Piers
danjshelton Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 TPA (link) are another company that you could try, been on quite a few sites where they have and never had any problems with there equipment. Cheers Dan

arosan Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 You should consider using DuraDeck or HexaDeck from Siganture Flooring in the USA: www.eventdeck.com DuraDeck can hold loads up to 80,000 lbs, while HexaDeck can handle somewhat lower weights. The company also offers EventDeck and UltraDeck flooring for lighter weight applications. Note: They are the largest manufactureres and providers of such flooring in the world, though their presence in the UK is limited.
Highlander Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Rob, Would recommend the Signature products mentioned above. I have a few thousand square metres of their products in my hire stock. They are good products and do exactly what they say they do! Good guys to deal with as well.
Rob Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 We eventually ended up with regular Trakway from TPA - They were really great to deal with from start to finish and did us a fantastic deal to boot.
