Jivemaster Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I need to open a small electronics case, the fasteners are down a 6mm hole about 20mm deep. I think from probing gently with a small blob of blue tack that the fastener has a small hex and a pin in the centre making it security/tamperproof hex/allen. I can find security torx and they don't fit! I can find security hex bits for 6mm hex socket adaptors but I cannot find a set of security hex keys I've looked retail, RS and CPC amd Maplin. The hex power screwdriver bits dont go down the hole to the screw head. Do these keys exist? Or do I need to apply a hammer.
MarkPAman Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Studiospares sell the M6 security rack bolts and an Allen key to fit. It's part no 401-890. It's a 4mm key, with a hole in the end. :)
jack s/lfx Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Hello, Don't know whether these are worth a try or not:http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.js...83&ts=00379orhttp://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.js...15&ts=00379Good luck! Jack
Jivemaster Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Thanks! The long security keys may reach. I have the short ones and they are too short to reach the screwhead before the handle binds on the counterbore! And there is a screwfix near me!
MarkPAman Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I thank you too Jack. I've not seen those long ones before. I'll get a set.
