tokm Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Hello all! Need some help. Does anyone got a pin out for the 5pin analogue socket on the unit & the controller that comes with it. i.e. pin1 is ? pin 2 is? etc.. Need it to make an adaptor to run some of these units off a demux. Should work in theory, just need to know what pins I need to connect. Thanks. Tom *edit - just to note these units are exactly the same as the old techno fogs, so if someone has the pin out for them, it'll be useful for me*
3guk Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I have a feeling it could be the same of the ZR-12 :- http://www.ukslc.org/forum/index.php?topic=2286.0 I could be completely wrong, but I'm sure we used that pinout last time.
tokm Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 Thanks for that. I'll try that pin out with some bodge plugs & report back. If anyone else has something more definite I'd still appreciate it if they posted it on here. Tom

tokm Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 Well. Looks like I'll be trying that idea tomorrow then! Had another search round BR for stuff on the magnum 800 or the techno fog. Someone posted a link to exactly what I wanted (link to the martin/jem support site) to a page titled jem techno fog 5pin din pinout.. bloody typical luck though, the page wasn't around anymore as the post was in 05... Tom
peternewman Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Have you tried the web archive at http://web.archive.org/, which might well work? Otherwise post the URL and I might have a play seeing if I can find if I've got some free time.
tokm Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Tried that website, wasn't able to bring up the page unfortunately. This's the web address though: http://www.jemsmoke.com/service/downloadfi....PDF&cat=66 See.. typical bad luck, its exactly what I'm after! (look at the things name) Tom
chrishandcock Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I contacted jem about the same thing, kind of. They sent me the pinout of the DMX converter for the ZR12, if u send me a PM, I'll send u and email with it attached. Seems pretty simple, connect pin 3 to 5 and it should produce fog!!!
tokm Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Hello. Got a reply from the chaps at Jem, they sent me some PDF's which still have me a little confused but I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually. Thanks for the advice/offer of help chrishandcock, will PM shortly (after as much info as a I can get!) Though not sure what you mean about pin 3 to 5 as according to what I've been sent (which you van view below) 3 is a +16v line and 5 is 0 to +10v. Or am I just being a m00se and getting confused. Technofog_Pins_and_PCB_After15-09-2001_DWG2001-1B&Technofog_Pins_and_PCB_Before15-09-2001_DWG2001-1A Time to play with bodge plugs, a demux & a magnum 800 smoke machine me thinks.. Thanks. Tom
Tom Baldwin Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Though not sure what you mean about pin 3 to 5 as according to what I've been sent (which you van view below) 3 is a +16v line and 5 is 0 to +10v. Pin 5 is the control input. According to the "after" link you posted, you'll need to apply 1.5V to constantly it to enable the heater, and then you can proportionally control the output once the unit has finished heating by applying a voltage greater than 2V (up to 10 V for maximum output) to this pin. The other pins provide a ground reference (handy if you're going to use a potential divider to get that constant 1.5V) and outputs to drive the remote control's indicators.

So its actually pins 3 and 2? Pin 2 would connect to the common/gnd pin on the 8pin din plug and 3 would connect to one of the 6 'channel' pins in the 8pin? Sound the only way. If it was connect pins 3 and 5 surely I'd be sending 16v into pin 3 which only wants 0 to +10v.. Ah time to have a play outside if the weathers nice tomorrow! Thanks for everyones help. Tom
gunnie Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 HI all, just found this tread while looking around. My question is???Why is it my two technohaze machines have a 3 pin XLR connection for the remote??And thats printed on the sticker on the front panel as well, so its not a modification.Maybe something to do with being in australia but cant see why the diffference?I dont need and answer, just looking at it from another angle.CheersSteve
tokm Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 Why is it my two technohaze machines have a 3 pin XLR connection for the remote??Cus that was the preferred connector by the manufacturer.. Maybe something to do with being in Australia but cant see why the difference?I believe the UK models of the technohaze have a 3pin XLR on the back of them for control. Only recently I saw a technohaze controller on ebay with a xlr3 on the cable. Remember, you have a technohaze.. not a technofog/magnum 800, which is what we were discussing here. I dint need and answer, just looking at it from another angle. :P Then why even post a question like post at all... Tom
gunnie Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 my mistake re technohaze/fog.No need for a smartarse relpy, not every contribution is a question, nor needs an answer, thats what make it a forum.
