dvlchd3 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I graduated last year from highschool and went back this year to help with the play. The school got a new lighting system and I had never worked with lighting before. I got stuck having to try to read a manual about our new Strand 200 board and am confused about a few things. First, is there a way to easily record fade-in and fade-out times into submasters. We currently have the two acts on different submaster pages and have to crossfade maually. I would like to just have to push a button or slide something and have the console do the rest of the work. I know you can set fade times at each cue and through effects somehow. But effects seemed to confuse me a bit to much and seemed there should be an easier way. If not, I guess I need a little more detailed information about what effects really are and how to program them and apply them to submasters, etc. Second, if someone could briefly explain how the whole sound and light cue changes system works. It fascinates me, but seems like it might be more plausible to do for a future performace. Thanks in advance DAN
gareth Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 You're asking too much from the desk!! It's only a low-end manual desk with recordable subs, not a 'proper' memory desk. You can fade sequentially along the subs, with the fade times set by the time faders at the top of the desk, but there isn't a 'go' button as you'd find on a more high-end desk like the Strand 300. As for the rest of it (how to program effects, etc.) you're probably best reading the manual - if you don't have a hard copy, you can download it from www.strandlighting.com.
Trunker Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 To record FX. Hit record and then the FX panel (above numeric keys) on which FX you wish to record on. bring up a channel on board. if the light that is on, you wish to record press step (or the 0 keys at bottom of numeric pad). Repeat until you have enough steps. depress record. Hit 'FX' button (which should now have a yellow? light above it) and then press 'go'. the chase should work. to stop hit FX and then 'Go' again. You have to control the speed by sliders at top of desk. It is a very basic desk, and strand should have stuck with the MX as it did the same job as the 200 and then they would have saved money as well.
rh01bellc Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Hi there,My old high school recently(ish) got a new lighting system installed and we also got a strand 200 series and I'm afraid that its just manually changing between subs and the effects aren't much better. Just out of interest where is the high school? Who was it that installed it? Send me a message.CheersC

When the faders are at the bottom the next cue is 'in the background' and will be played as the faders are brought to the top. You can set the in / out times by the faders at the top of the desk marked 'time'. PS there is a fault!? with the desk that only enables this to work from slider 3. This is the experience that I have had.
