dravenzouk Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 One of my Chauvet Intimidator 1.2's is having a small problem - it seems to have a bit of a "lazy" up/down axis lately. Goes like this: when the light is going through a chase, every once in a while it won't return full up - maybe a notch lower than the spot it's supposed to. Then it will continue through it's movement as if that position was the correct starting point (ie: the rest of the movement/color-change/gobo-change is as it should be, it's just that the whole series of scenes is slightly down). It may do it again later on and now be two notches down...and so on. Any experience with this? Suggestions/fixes? I thought initially that the pivot was tight or sticking but when I move the mirror by hand (with power off) everything seems just fine. Thanks for your help, d.

Jivemaster Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Is the mirror the same as the others? A thicker (heavier) mirror is one cause of these lamps getting out of sync with where you think they should be. Cheaper lights "zero" the stepper motors once in the boot sequence then slip occasionally as the moving mass and the rate of movement expected excede the weakening motors. Real fittings have continuous positional feedback and reset themselves if the motor misses a step. -- Oh and they cost more too!
