Antari "fazer" DMX control

Hi Blue Room room folk-

We have a couple of Antari Z300 "fazers". When we bought them, they came with standard analogue timer remote controllers, and we were told that a DMX interface would be available soon.

However, we've now been told that this interface has been abandoned. Does anybody know where we might be able to get a DMX interface that would control these units, or does anybody have/know where to find a circuit diagram for the controllers so that we can figure it out for ourselves?

Thanks.

If it runs on analogue in the sense that u have a 0v to +10v (or some sort of voltage) signal from the controller to the unit, you should in theory be able to make an adaptor cable to run the units off a DMX to analogue demux.

You just find out what pin is the common & what pin is the output/on and just wire a cable accordingly. i.e. an 8pin din to 6x 5pin dins, only 2 pins in each 5pin would be wired, but all the common pins from the 5pin connectors would need to be soldered to the common pin on 8pin and then you just decide which 5pin you want to be way 1 and just solder the on/output line from each 5pin onto a different channel pin on the 8pin.

Finding the pin out should be simple enough either from the manufacturer or on here.

Thanks Tom, that's pretty much what we guessed, I believe my colleague is doing more or less what you've suggested!

The Z-300 does not have a DMX option available as yet.

And we've been told that there is now no plan to make one available.

I know thread Necromancy is a crime, but I've done a site search and turned up nothing else, so I'm adding an enquiry here either before or instead of making my own thread....

I have a similar problem to deal with at my end, and had already got to the point of considering some kind of unholy hybrid cable (5DIN is either impossible or too expensive, but DMX of the same length and a pair of male/female DIN plugs to solder onto it comes within our budget, and something that's basically a timed on/off switch surely can't use all 5 lines - should be something like +V feed, return, and signal, right?)....... but I dont know what pins it uses. I've only just emailed Antari about 30 minutes ago, the manuals are useless, they don't have the info elsewhere on their site (and I doubt they'll let the info slip given that they sell DIN - DMX converters for their equip, and seem to pretty much deny all knowledge that the older models exist apart from the next-to-useless PDF of the user guide (think: the user manual that comes with a Tesco value toaster)) .... and google has not been my friend for this stuff today.

Soooooooooooooooooooooo does anyone know what the Z6 remote's pinout is for this fogger please? I can probably deal with the rest of it myself

(I'd even have a go at some kind of inadvisable multimetering, except for a warning seen elsewhere that these things may well be running at AC line voltage instead of, say, +3 ~ 12VDC... I'm not prepared for the world of hurt that may result from trying to meter a pokey DIN plug that's at 230V)

Tharnks muchly

Following on from Dangerous Mark's contribution.... I have an Antari Ice 101 Lowlevel foger. But no remote unit. Has any one got one I can buy? The Antari sellers suddenly go quiet at this question! The remote is connected via a 4 pin XLR connector not the usual 3 pin EIC connector, and controls Power (latch on and off) Timer (using duration, volume and inteval control knobs) and Manual overide. On the 4 pin XLR connector pin 4 is 12v DC supply to the remote and supplied to pin 2 will bring on the fan for about 10 seconds then bring the pump on to start injecting liquid into the heater and produce fog. (actually lots of fog!!) Should anybody be in a position to tell me what pins 3 and 1 are meant to do or can provide a remote unit for sale I would be most interested. It has got DMX control but I would like to cross this bridge first before attempting to sort out the chanel addressing and 9 dip switches that dont appear to be mentioned in the manual.

cheers,

Ken

We had an Antari X-310 fazer until about a year ago when the pump packed up and we invested in something better. I kept a couple of bits as spares before we binned it. I have the Timer remote with DMX option in my store. If this is any good your welcome to it, for the cost of postage. Its a 5-pin (I think, maybe 4) XLR that links it to the unit, with the usual 5 pin DMX in/out on the remote.

Hi did anyone find out what the pins are on the z300 as I just got one but has no remote or can anyone give me ant tips to figure them out

Thanks for your reply don was hoping just to test it at the moment as was sold as parts but have tested heater and pump and both work so hoping if I can just get it to work without remote to test then I will buy one just don't want to waste any more money on it if it's dead
