Hi guys,

I have a cable which is installed in our theatre, connecting an AV switcher box and projector remote to the projector, the problem is I dont knwo what this cable is called and need to purchase another. Wondering whether I will have to try and home make this cable, and if anybody has any instruction, will be appreciated.

It is as follows

on one end; VGA Female - 15pin

on other end;

The 3 larger wires (Red green blue) each goto one Phono connection, the rest of the smaller wires and bundled together and go into a 3.5mm (headphone jack) jack, all of our theatre equipment was installed (quite badly) by a company called inkwell and we have lost contact with them since, the cabling itself isnt great so I would like to purchase one.

We have the remote wired, althought you can use it as a normal remote the range isnt very good for the size of our theatre and we cannot freeze the screen from the control desk unless it is plugged in.

Any input would be helpful, if my explaining is rubbish and you want pics I can upload some tomorrow.

Cheers,

Ash

It may help if you could tell us a bit about the equipment at either end of the cable. I suspect that the 3.5mm jack is simply a data connection using 2core & screen, but how the cores are pinned would likely be a custom for your set-up.

Ok,

I will try my best, not too top notch on this sort of stuff,

I believe from the projector at the far end of the hall runs 2 VGA Cables, one of which we plug into the laptop we use, this is fine and dandy and working no problems.

the other vga cable that runs from the projector is a Male to Male 15pin, which then runs into a female vga lead which has the connections mentioned above.

3 larger wired (RGB) has phono atached, the rest (thinner wires) are tied around each other and provide power/direct connection (wired remote) to the projector.

hope this is off help, to me it sounds like it will have to be "home-made", I can mange soldering the phono's but maybe I will have to try and disect the old cable as best as I can.

Cheers,

Ash
