jayselway
Hi guys - having one of those weeks of troubles it seems! I have been asked to quote for a gobo projector to be installed into the entrance lobby of a club. Easy job? Yup. Nope. It's a listed building with Oak Panneling all the way through, which we can't use, which is right where I need to put the projector to get an even image. I therefore have two options: a) Project from an off centre angle, and hope that the image doesn't skew too much / find a projector/lens which will allow for correction. b) Look into an LED slab for the floor which has the logo engraved in it, like plexiglas or something similar. Cost is an issue to the club (as always!), so open to any ideas! Cheers all!
pritch
Custom gobo with the right amount of skew already present in the image? Could be tricky to focus though, depending on just how far away from being straight the projector is.
jayselway
Would that look really bizarre with rotation? hmm
woody74
What about mounting on the opposite wall, and use a mirror?
jayselway
That's a different plan - hadn't thought of that..... Problem is, the opposite wall is a massive (and I mean huge) staircase, that splits in two at the first landing. I'll get some pics off the camera to help also. Kelite
Would that look really bizarre with rotation? hmm As a number of gobo projections are lit from less-than ideal positions, we have developed a steel Keystone Grid gobo. This allows the designer to project onto the surface desired, then take a digital picture of the grid from the vantage point required. This aids in keystoning gobos. http://www.internetapollo.com/Products/Search.aspx?t=grid Rotation? Wow- that would look pretty wierd with a keystoned gobo! Is this to be B/W or color? (Or whatever is affordable for the club.....)
jayselway
Colour I reckon, if they can afford it that's what they would be after.
GregB
LED projecto while not the most robust route will of course give you key stone correction, but also the possibillity of other promotional graphics....your contract could be a service provider looking after all that... jayselway
I was thinking that some kind of LCD projection could be used, again mounting the thing is an issue - and I wonder what the glare would be like for people either working in the area, or walking past to go out of the club, say in an emergency...hmm Still pondering!
