gherriott
Hi There, I'm using low fog for a scene in Jesus Christ Superstar, during this scene, I also have two gerbs being fired from floor level. I am just wanting to clarify before I go ahead with this, if smoke fluid is at all likely to catch fire due to the firing of the gerbs. I have checked the fluid bottle and there is no warning on there about it being flammable, however I just want to double check. Greg
paulears
Bearing in mind it has just passed over a red hot element in the smoke machine, there is little chance of combustion - in fact a large proportaion of the fluid is water anyway.

I didn't actually think about that! Feel like a bit of an idiot now! However, rather safe than sorry! Moderation: quote & typo fixed
Tomo
However, rather safe than sorry!Indeed!"The only stupid question is the one you never asked." So if you aren't sure - ask. Many aerosols can be highly flammable and even explosive under the right (wrong?) conditions, so it's good to check these things. This information will also be on the COSHH sheet for the fluid. timtheenchanteruk
not using one, but what about the aerosol based smokes/fogs?? presumably the propellant is in place of the pump in a normal machine, I don't know what the propellant is, but would this be flammable if used too close?? zonino
quite simply, it depends on the propellant being used!
