cedd
I've been after a few pages detailing the tech specs of various current and past West end Shows. Particularly interested in Wicked and Starlight Express. Maybe some photos of bits and pieces like the bridge from starlight (the bits you don't see!). In other words, engineering specs but also some details on the sound systems, lighting rigs (what was that effect used when Elektra came on stage???). I've googled several times and tried the theatre home pages (both were at the Appolo Victoria, but I'm also interested if there's a page detailing other theatres.). Any ideas? Maybe the companies that built the kit itself from the engineering point of view.
Just Some Bloke
Try to find someone with access to back copies of Lighting and Sound International who print quite full articles on many of this type of shows, giving all the details you require. the kid
I was just thinking the same thing. I did a LSI and goggled the LD but cant find what I want. Where is the place to get rig numbers etc if not LSI or from the obvious sites (Show Site/Ld Site)?
andy_s
I'm sure there was an LSI article about Starlight Express when it opened, but of course that was sometime last century. Maybe the old-fashioned way of contacting the LSI offices, rather than googling might work.
knotted
Wicked had a large spread in LSI a few months back. It really depends how detailed you are looking for, a lot of the information is commercially sensitive and as such not published. Most magazines/articles give broad run downs of the kit used. cedd
Aha, so this is going to take a little money to buy some magazines on my part, I'm going off the idea! Haha To be honest I'd kind of forgotten the world of magazine subscriptions, sad sign of the world I spose isn't it! Will have a dig in that case and see what I can find from them, cheers all! Sarah Q
I notice from your profile that you are a student.... L&SI is free subscription to students, and was a valuable resource when I was teaching lighting.... http://www.lsionline.co.uk/lsi/subs/readerform.pdf looks like a good place to start Hope this helps Sarah Q
mac500
In response to the effect when Elektra comes on stage, if its the 'Laser like' effect from the west end production its done by several High End Emulators run with there own analogue controller. If it isn't that effect from the west end production then please feel free to delete this.
