Ben Lawrance
Hi All I'm finding it difficult to get some RG58 BNC patch cables for my radio mics. Had a google and a BR search, but the only places it points towards are in the States. Where do the lovely people of the BR get theirs?

Bobbsy
I assume you want to use these for patching between an antenna splitter and the receivers? If so, RG58 may not be your best choice anyway. It's a "medium loss" cable at the UHF frequencies you'll be using...around .5dB per meter at 800MHz. Now, this might not sound like much on a half meter chunk of cable but, on top of this you have to add in connector losses etc. It's a rare link budget that can afford to be throwing away dBs here and there. More appropriate cables would be things like RG8 type, or RG213 or LM400. These will be a bit "chunkier" in size than RG58 so you'll need to be using specialist BNC connectors. Don't forget that you want all this to be 50 ohm, not 75 ohm. The sort of thing you need is fairly specialist...your best bet will be to talk to a reputable company that does RF kit for a living. Two I've had good dealing with are Hand Held Audio HEREor Total Audio Solutions HERE. Hope this helps, Bob
