afterworks
hey guys, this is possibly a very stupid question... got a gig tonight, and am using 2 robes 250 xt's. the fuses on one of them has gone a 15amp. I took the other fuse out of the other light to test and see whether it was the fuse that has gone. and magically the 'good' one has dissapeared. im not an electrician and have a stupid question.... the only fuses I could get on my lunch hour were 10amp ones...and the guy said it depends how much power I pull to whether or not theyll last the set....? so will they be ok or are they gonna go as soon as I strike the lamps? Don Allen
Looking at the manual on line, it specifies a T3,15A @ 230 volt , the power consumption is 400 VA which is less than 2 amps, the switch on surge will be higher but you have a show, 10 amp fuses are available so try them, well before the show as they could work. Buy 6 so you have four spares. If the 10 amp ones allow the lamp to strike when you test them, you have had a temporary reprieve, but do not expect them to last two strikes so if you are going to turn the lamp off before the show, fit two new 10 amp fuses that have not been stressed. When you get a chance buy the correct ones.
adamharman
Are you sure they were 15A fuses? I suspect you are mis-reading it T3,15A is a 3.15A type T fuse, not a 15A type T3 fuse. If the manual specifies a 3.15A fuse then I would fit one. I have no idea why 3.15A is a standard fuse, but it is!
Light Console
Give Robe a call, I had a problem with some last year, and they advised changing the fuse to a higher rating as the venue was at the end of the line for mains. Can't for the life of me remember the value they told me to replace it with though, sorry. It wasn't as high as 10amps though. Their Number is 01604 741000, and ask for the technical support department, they are very helpful.

adamharman
ok well the fuse thats blown says on it:- T3.15AH250V on robes web manual it says the same...so my 10amp will fuses be ok? I'd try replacing with a 3.15 if this is the first time it's gone. If it's an ongoing problem then ring robe and ask, but I'd use a 4 or 5 not a 10. If 10 is all you can get, it'll get you through tonights show and you could have the right ones in the post in the morning if you order them now. afterworks
cheers guys I'm sorted for tonight at least now, wont be using those 10amp ones tho incase they hurt my lights, managed to find the right ones in time! ( its 3.15 not 15A!) ps adamharman cheers I'd have put 10 or 15 amp ones in and done some damage!
Light Console
Well, as I have said, give them a call! Your 10amp fuses will make it work, but they might not protect anything, (bearing in mind 10amps is over 3 times the original value) so no, your fuses are not ideal. Hang onto them for other uses though. I am just looking over my notes from the time to see if I can find what value they were replaced with. (I wrote the values onto the units when I changed the fuses with a reason, date, and who I spoke to, but I don't think I made a copy!) Edit: oops, all sorted by the time I finished looking and posted, all is well then!
adamharman
from his last post I got the impression he's got 3.15A fuses now
afterworks
ill give them a call for future reference, but its the first time ones gone in quite a while so they seem happy enough on the 3.15A's. cheers again!
Light Console
No problem! We are all here to help! Looks like I fitted 5 amp fuses to them, but that was following their advice to a particular problem - they were having lamps fail at 202 hours old amongst other things. I would hate to be at the end of a line in a venue!
u_dakka
for fuses like that I'd go to maplins - there's normally a close one nearby and they're sold in packs of ten (useful for spares). although in the 20 and 31mm it's glass fuses (shouldnt normally be a problem).andy
