pumphouse Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 I'm sure this has been done before, but may various attempts at different search terms all give lots of spurious results when googled. Can anyone recommend a good, preferably free, legal (maybe I can't have all 3!) website for sourcing general sound effects? I'm doing 'Alarms and Excursions' soon and there are over 60 effects that I need to source. Worst case, a reasonably priced site would do. Thanks in advance, Jason
the kid Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Sound Dogs has some good ones. Many I have found have clipped ends but ususaly suffice.
Bobbsy Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Pay sites: http://www.sound-effects-library.com/http://www.sounddogs.com/start.asp Both are excellent, but you DO pay for them. Free sites: http://www.findsounds.com/ISAPI/search.dllhttp://freesound.iua.upf.edu/index.phphttp://www.ljudo.com/default.asp?lang=tEnglish&do=it More variable in choice and quality, but the above three are the best free sites I've managed to find. Don't discount recording and processing your own. Bob
pumphouse Posted February 3, 2007 Author Posted February 3, 2007 Thanks for the replies - I'll give them a go. I have quite a lot to record anyway for this show so will think about some of the FX at the same time. Jason
agermich Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 I'm gonna give another vote for sound dogs, although it's a paid site it's well worth forking out a little bit of cash rather than using the sample audio (they seem to stick lots of s#*t in the background of the samples that you don't notice on cheap PC speakers!). Prices vary substantially between different effects depenting on the source, quality and length of the effect. It's a US site as well so you can't use a switch/maestro card. Mike
frazer Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I have found AudioSparx really good in the past. They used to be free but have now recently introduced some charges for sound effects. http://www.audiosparx.com/ There are of course ways to get around paying, but I wouldn't recommend it, as the sample is very poor quality.
mrcog Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Theres always iTunes. Just type in sound effects on the search
