Depends what you do with it.

I've seen some shows where projections don't really fit in, and don't seem to add anything, but then again I've seen some where it looked amazing.

I often find that in theatre pieces, that it is less well integrated,a dn doesn't always fit as wel, though Woman in White is a perfect example of it going really well. Whereas, I often think it looks better in Dance shows, as a semi interactive set.

In terms of whether they are worth it for you, I would hate to say (especially with a good few thousands resting on it) as only you can tell us whether you think it would help your shows. If you find yourself hiring one for 10 or more times a year, then probably worth thinking about, but not necessarily. Also, remember to allow budget for repairs and new lamps.

Edit: Have abstained from voting, as there are so many considerations for a question like that, that are just not encompassed in the rather broad poll.

I last year I hired one for a few of my shows. The main use of it would be for theatre mainily in a school but also they do put on dances shows....

To buy? yes - If you'd use it enough - and can look after it properly.

Worth it in General? ...of course - if used appropriately - effects can be simple to create and stunning.

They're surely only repetative if you don't put much on/into them...

How long is a piece of string?

If you tell us what type of business you're in, and what you plan to do with the projector, we might be able to give you some interesting advice, but right now, we can't help you. More details, or I'm closing this for being a non-question.

It would be used in theatre mainily within a school productions, it would be used to what ever the dirictor wants like he says he wants moving trees behind windows etc to make it look more glossy and profesonal

Moderation:

The OP is in an educational environment. Video projectors are in common use, so there seems little need to buy another one personally, to use in the place.

As Bryson mentioned, the quality and usefullness of the thread and poll is very questionable. I have closed the thread, pending deletion if the mods concur.

Remember please - the Blue Room is striving to maintain a quality threshold - this thread does not meet it.
