Side Chain Insert

Hi guys.

 

Just a bit of a quick one really - I'm wanting to use my Compressor/gate for Main vocals & bass drum using the inserts on my mixer.

 

However I noticed the 266XL has a Side Chain Insert - what does this entail - does it allow me to use a single stereo 1/4" TRS lead between my mixer and compressor, or would I have to use a proper insert cable (i.e. Stereo 1/4" to 2x Mono 1/4")

 

If needed, my mixer is a Soundcraft M12

The side chain insert is to enable you to modify the compressors control path, commonly used for 'de-essing' for example.

So yes, you will have to use a proper insert cable (i.e. Stereo 1/4" to 2x Mono 1/4") in the application you describe.
