casper
I have a set of 4 original abstract future scans constructed in 1991 which have lasted till now but in the fourth light the 90 degree pan motor has totally stopped, presumably burnt out. anyone got any suggestions where I could get a new one??? thanks
3guk
Contacting Abstract UK might be your best bet!!! Failing that, keep an eye on out ebay for old knackered ones that you can salvage parts from.
AndyJones
Casper, Have you tried swapping the motor out with one from the other scans? This will make sure it is definatly a motor fault. regards Andy Jones
casper
I haven't tried cos its a bit of pain to get to them, but ive changed the wiring so the 45 degree tilt motor uses the 90 degree output and that works and responds to the 90 degree pattern so it can only be the motor as everything works up to that point. thanks for your replies, have contacted abstract already, and always on ebay! any other ideas? AndyJones
two options as far as I can see, 1) scrap the light, and use it for spares!2) remove the motor, or find out the specs, then see if you can get a duplicate from rs online other than that there is not much you can do? regards Andy Jones
jayselway
Just a quick thought - are they the model with the Servos or motors? If they are the servos then they are similar (if not the same as) those used in radio controlled boats and planes. Might be quite easy to find a replacement for them (just make sure the polarity on the 3-pin plug is the same). If not, then I second the suggestion of RS or another component supplier who do stepper motors. Jay :P
ed_ld
Hi, Which model of Futuresan are these? Are they 2 or 3, I can't remember which one was about in 91. The 3CEs look like this:- http://www.avla.com.au/Hire_pics/Futurescan3_pic1.jpg and the 2CEs like this:- http://www.moving-lights.com/Images/Futurescan2.jpg If it's a 3CE, I can put you in touch with a company who have loads of old reclaimed abstract parts from when they refitted just about every Yates pub in the UK and removed all the older Abstract lights. They have 3CEs, 1CEs and the club ranges in vast numbers with Futurescans, Gladiators, Twister 2s,3s and 4s as well as colour changers etc so could be quite helpful. However, Abstract tended to use standard parts across most of their ranges so if you're lucky, a Futurescan 3 motor may work on a Futurescan II and vice versa...
