David A
I'm considering adding a laser to my hire stock, now I know there are administrative problems but I would like advice on what power I need to get a serious laser effect.I am interested in the Showtec 500mw rgb unit but of course looking at photos can be deceptive, and I don't have any reference point.Any references to non advertising information would be welcome. Ike
I've never used one of the showtec ones so can't really comment. I have however used a couple of units from Real Intelligent Laser Lighting which seem to be incredibly good value. They also hire so you can have a play before you spend your cash, maybe sub hire initially to see how it goes.
David A
My problem is that I am in W Australia so it is unlikely they will send one out for me to try which is why I am seeking advice.I don't want to spend many thousands of dollars unneccasarily. Ike
Doh! Should have checked your profile, in that case I have no idea.
Andrew C
Should have checked your profile, in that case I have no idea. It would have been easier if the "Location" field SAID Australia. Not getting at anyone, but it would be a real help if more people gave us some clue as to where they are. City, county, or for non-UK members, country would be wonderful! Roderick
Try Oracle laser: http://www.oraclelaser.bizI know that Sydney and Melbourne are a long way from Perth but I am certain they would have contacts in Perth they could recommend. If you call the Sydney office, ask for Paul, a very nice guy, what he doesn't know about lasers is not worth knowing. LDODD
one point that I've noticed - if it makes any difference to your application..... The RGB Lasers that I have seen (pro-end, not China end) tend to have a large beam divergence, as 3 or more lasers are collimated to produce the eventual beam that is on view. This can be particularly poor for graphics projection. Other than that - it's a personal choice thing. Some folk like fat beams - most tend not to. I'd suggest that Demo of the kit is imperative! jcgoldcoast
There is a mob down in Adelaide called Pulse-Ent (http://www.pulse-ent.com.au/html/pulse.html). They manufacture movers, lasers etc. I suggest talking to them, they were very helpful when I was enquiring about some of their products mid last year. David A
I did ask for non advertising advice and got a string of links to commercial sites, is there anyone who would like to actually give an opinion on the original question?
musht
I did ask for non advertising advice and got a string of links to commercial sites, is there anyone who would like to actually give an opinion on the original question? Calm down, photonlexicon.com is a non commercial laser forum, with number of Australians resident, but server is unfortunately down at moment. 500mW white is total power of all three lasers so total out on any one is considerably less, not so great for beam shows in larger rooms. Lower quality red can diverge badly , how far can it hold a white line without fringing? Crystals within blue lasers are hygroscopic and may get eaten by fog juice faster than others. Green has never been cheaper, also means never been more common. Sure read that Tiesto`s rider forbids use of soley green lasers. Good laser graphics software can get expensive.
