Soundcraft Live 4 II 24

Hi all :D ,

I have a Soundcraft Live 4 II 24 channel desk and it recently blew a fuse in it's DCP125 power supply... as I only had a 6.3A fuse that was the same size as the 2A one that had blown I put that in, the second I turned the supply back on, the fuse blew, now, being 3+ x the rating of the origional fuse, this is not good!! But also bizarely, I reckon it's been like that for ages, as, even with the fuse blown, the desk worked??? (can't get my head round that one!) it was not the +48V fuse, it was one of the pair of 2A fuses, any ideas??

Anyway... I have read on fourms before about the Live 4 II 24 channel desk being used and supplied with the DCP125 and people reckoning that the CPS150 powersupply was a better PSU for it (the CPS150 was supplied with the 32 channel model of the live 4 II as standard but not the 24 Channel)

I have a Soundcraft monitor version 1 24 channel with a CPS150 which I then plugged in to the live 4 II and didn't have a problem with it, tested it in the unit and it was fine... I haven't used it on a gig yet but it seemed ok...

I just wondered if it's ok to use the CPS150 with the 24 channel version like I am doing as I rarely need the soundcraft monitor desk, I can use it's supply with Live 4 II for the considerable future etc and eventually get the DCP125 supply serviced of course!

And also has anyone else had that problem with the DCP125 power supply? I read bits about it and even including a guy who had re built a few live 4 II's going over the solder joints everywhere HERE just to cure the random noise problems, scratching etc that I can also here with my desk from time to time!

Thanks!

Chris :)

hi

I have a live 4 16 channel I use for sub mixes or small gigs, never had a issue with the desk but the power supply oh, nothing but grief.

I have since re-built the PSY, into a 2U rack case and it sits happily in a case- Mine was manufactured in early 2000, the only improvement I made on the PSU was I changed the reisistor that links the 0 volts to chassis to a lesser value- less noise apparent on the desk-

Went through the PSU and found that there were a few dry joints also.....

PM me if you need more info

Dan
