Bryson
For what purpose? For most people, a USB-DMX interface is for using the PC to output DMX, ie: replacing the Fat Frog in your scenario. Or do you want to hook up the Fat Frog to a visualiser? If so, which one?
lightingyoung
I would like to pre programme the show and run it. I am not sure if you cant do this. can you? cheers
Graham NZ
Hi All the simple answer is no the Fat Frog does not support USB. It was developed before it was a viable option and the cost of retro fitting it to the existing hardware is not cost effective. Our newer products, like the Frog 2 do support USB. If you would like to contact us to discuss what you are trying to do perhaps we will be able to help you find a solution. Feel free to PM me. mumbles
But depending on the visualisation software you want to use, you can use varoius pieces of hardware with DMX in and DMX out, ie just running inline with all the DMX devices, and then connecting to a PC. This way, the software can see all the DMX values the desk is running, so can control the live visualisation images. Please note that this is not based on direct experience, but on the words of others, including a couple of people working at Z88, when I was looking into doing this myself. pritch
I would like to pre programme the show and run it. I am not sure if you cant do this. can you? Do you mean that you want to preprogram the show on a PC, and then run it from the Frog? If so, you could download the Phantom Frog program from Zero88's website, and then copy the show file across to the desk on a floppy.
LDODD
do you need to run the shows from a PC? Alternatively, program with your fat frog and use a cheap DMX recorder (like the botex Scene setter) and trigger using it's panel. Have done this before, where there is no op or desk room in the venue (at a decent viewing location). If we are way out here - you might want to consider reading your post before posting it. Doesn't really make a great deal of sense - well not as a coherent sentence....

Ben Langfeld
Program what exactly? You have to remember that although you might be thinking something, we're readers on a forum, not mystics.
peter
USB-DMX devices for inputting to a visualiser will work with the Fat Frog, as the desk outputs a standard DMX signal which can be read by any DMX receptive device (such as a visualiser) USB-DMX devices which allow the PC to output DMX will NOT work with the Fat Frog nor with Phantom Frog, the offline editor. These devices are designed to work with proprietary software, such as Lightjockey. Phantom Frog will not output any DMX signal.
