Bean
In all houselight installations my father has done (for 40 odd years) he uses low voltage dicroic lamps. They give good warm output, and lamp life is long, we use them continuously. The cost has come down recently too. We buy pairs now which would probably be better for a 9m drop. just my 2 cents. Christophe-lamby-pie
How do, The venue I work at is curently looking at a similar overhaul of Houselights. One of my collegues is taking care of it, so I don't know the exact in's and out's of it, but one thing he has told me is that due to the superior efficiency of red LED's, you will get a brighter white output from RGB units than from white only units! Strange but true (if anyone wants to argue this point, can I just say I'm only passing on what I've been told ;) ). Chris PS: Have a look at Pulsar of Cambridge
Don Allen
Points to ponder. One of the functions of houselights in a theatre is to allow patrons to read their programs before the show. Will the led down lights provide enough illumination ? The use of led wall washers is repeating the style of the art deco cinemas with their indirect lighting, but they have hundreds of 60 watt incandescent bulbs providing that effect and they do not provide enough illumination to read a program, even though there is no program. This is one situation where a light meter is useful, providing it matches the spectral response of the eye.
