Wysiwyg Subscription

hi all

 

just a quick question for all the wyg users out there, especially anyone who works with the educational software.

 

my subscription ended back in december and so I contacted cast about renewing it. I have finally heard back and to renew wysiwyg educational design I have been told that it will cost me £389.00! is this right?

 

I personally think that it is extortionate as I am still a student in the industry and so still entitled to educational software! I would be happy to pay it if I were running the full software.

 

I will be upgrading form R15 to R18

 

any feedback on whether this is right or not will be much appreciated especially if you have experienced this before.

The fact you have to renew at commercial value is absolutley correct. However the price is incorrect, A years subscription on design is £217.00 (UK LIST)

You DO have the full software edition, the only difference is the logo.

 

 

The Educational licences are designed for final year students, so when the subscription comes up it is expected that you will then be working in the industry and not a student any more. It is stated in the terms and conditions and you should have had this explained to you when you purchased the product. If you bought it through AC, then it would have been me that dealt with it and I would have told you this. I can't speak for anyone such as Stage Electrics or Whitelight, they do buy the product from us to sell on, but we will not delve into the details of their customers. If you choose to buy online through Cast directly then you sacrifice the ability to speak to someone in your own country for these exact support issues. This exactly why there are dealer networks.

Before you rush into spending a lot of money on a subs renewal, I'd suggest you visit The Light Network and take a look at some of the recent WYG topics that have been discussed in there. Yes, R18 has some improvements .... but a lot of the old "known issues" (as Cast quaintly call them) are still present, and some of the things that used to work in R17 have stopped working in R18.

 

I'm not saying R18 isn't any good at all - I'm just saying that you should know what to expect ...
