Stewart Newlands Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Does any one use one a lot? How do you find it, or do you have one gathering dust?
David Duffy Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Do you mean a Jands Vista lighting desk? If so, I doubt any would be collecting dust!
Stewart Newlands Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 Do you mean a Jands Vista lighting desk? If so, I doubt any would be collecting dust! You would be surprised, just how many are, getting LDs to use them when they are used to other desks is hard work, but how many people would admit to having slow stock...
tokm Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Whats the point of this thread?? Anyone?? Other than too ask silly questions Plenty of Jands Vista bits on here findable via the search function.. Sorry to rant but if your going to ask something, at least get the name right and think.. Will the answers produced by members contribute to the quality of BR as a mass of facts and knowledge. Tom

I'm very curious where you get you information from.. Being the European distributer for Jands Products including the Vista and handling all the training and support for Vista, we tend to know exactly who has them and where they are. I think it is you who would be surprised...!! Kind RegardsAndy
Stewart Newlands Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 I like the vista, it's just I have not come across that many users, people I meet seem to be more keen on avo or hog, now I don't want to get into a this v that rant or a breaking into market share discussion, but I would like to hear from some users, as to how they like / dislike them.

Yes but what you and alot of other people tend to forget, is that Vista is still in its infancy. Hogs and some Avo consoles have been around 10 plus years. It took a long time to get those platforms into the industry in the beginning. When Hog first came out it was a totally new concept much like Vista is. Most designers first comment was where are my faders how am I supposed to do a show on this!! Have you used a Vista? Have you had a proper demo? Please feel free to contact us regarding console demos if you are interested in seeing what it is about. RegardsAndy
Adam Brinkworth Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Im still waiting on my budget to come in, but I will be purchasing one soon. I have seen them in use, and I feel that they are a very powerfull tool to use indeed.I will be calling AC soon!
Michael James Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 I have copy of Vista PC and a dongle. I love it! Its a great lighting desk. I learnt on a strand, so moving from number crunching to a nice user interface is great. Very easy to use. I would say, if your looking at using lots generics, I've yet to find a way of controlling them which is as fast as using a strand. I havn't had it to long though, so chances are I will find a way which works for me. I won a training session on the Vista with AC Lighting just before christmas, so I'm hoping to learn so much more about this desk. If your looking at the PC version, I recommend you get the S3 aswell. Its on my list, just saving up. Hope thats of some help to you. P.S I dont work for AC Lighting or Jands, Im just a student studying tech theatre who loves the product.
Jon T Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 As a regular Vista T4 user I cant emphasise enough how easy and fast the vista consoles are to use! Previous to the vista I was also a keen strand user and coming from a strand to a vista was a bit of a mind blower but once you get the hang of one aspect t the desk the rest slowly fits into place.Im not sure how many rental houses stock them at the moment but im aware DBN and essential have them and Bandit Lites have also just purchased one I believe!?We have used the vista on a big majority of events that come through the halls doors and touch wood havent had any problems... theyr were slight bug issues at the beggining of purchase but this was quickley resolved. HTHJon
JMC Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Don't think essential have one any more... Believe it was sold as it was gathering dust!
Stewart Newlands Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 Andy, I could not agree more I have a T2, in a case six feet from my PC, but getting people to break old habits is hard

Glyn O'Donoghue Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I like the vista, it's just I have not come across that many users, people I meet seem to be more keen on avo or hog, now I don't want to get into a this v that rant or a breaking into market share discussion, but I would like to hear from some users, as to how they like / dislike them. Stewart, I was the global product manager for Hog2 throughout the initial few years and I am currently the product manager for the Jands Vista. I can assure you that during the initial few years of Hog2 promotion, we were constantly up against the same problems with existing Avo and Complulite users. We persevered and eventually broke the market, but only after constant effort, and by looking after one programmer/LD at a time. It is still early days for Vista and we are currently in a similar phase of our promotion, we focus on each programmer/LD at a time and are getting similar results to our initial efforts with Hog2. The market is very different to when we launched the Hog2, expectations are MUCH higher but I am just as excited with the potential of Vista as I was in 95/96 when we launched Hog2. I am convinced the Vista offers a much faster way for new users to pull off great looking shows and should become a new standard in the future. But don't take my word for it, check out these links to see what actual users have to say: http://www.jandsvista.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=5 and http://www.jandsvista.com/news.html Also here is a link to our latest Vista User advert just to confirm that Vista is getting used: http://www.aclighting.com/vista/vistausers.pdf By coincidence I spoke to Essential this morning about their Vistas for another reason and can confirm that they originally bought 2 consoles and still own both. Thank you for using Vista. To reinforce what Andy said earlier in this thread, you are welcome to come to AC Lighting for further training free of charge or to use our Visualisation suite to get better acquainted with the console.
