Bryson Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Anyone noticed This yet? It looks like it could be the basis for all sorts of fascinating and ingenious effects if it delivers.
Tomo Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Exceedingly cool - but how bright is it? There can't be much of a light source behind it, even if it's not included and you have to provide your own.
twiggy Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Endgadget saw it a ces and did another report bt I can't find it, the proj only delivers a image about 2 foot across and has a rubbish colour range, its only use at the moement would be in mobile phones for movie clips and pictures, but it will be cool when the tech gets better
Ike Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Exceedingly cool - but how bright is it? There can't be much of a light source behind it, even if it's not included and you have to provide your own.It seems it's using a "laser" and very, very tiny scanning mirror (PDF) so not restricted by a conventional light source!
Peter Tovey Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Anyone noticed This yet? It looks like it could be the basis for all sorts of fascinating and ingenious effects if it delivers. Or for a home-grown, and possibly slightly more advanced version, see http://www.lightblueoptics.com/index.htm. I might have gone to uni with a couple of the founders... They are doing some really cool stuff though, and I can't wait to start building them into sets. Only one backdrop needed for an entire show... Pete
twiggy Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Yeah that would be awsome, just imagine the possibilities for moving backdrops aswell?
gnomatron Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 It's nice, but does it offer anything much that you can't do with existing technology? You can build flatscreens into sets already, and there's plenty of cheap video projectors on the market that are small enough to be concealable. You could potentially build them into costumes, though, that would be pretty cool!
broadcast_techie Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Hmm, the idea of never having to focus a projector again somewhat overrides what can be done with current technology...Bring out the lasers, and lots of money...
