Attributes on a sub

Odd one this.

Programming up the 300 with the settings of our shiny new LED pars - no problems with recording as a cue, but I do have an issue when I record a cue onto a sub. It looks like it's recording the attributes OK, but when I bring up the sub it doesn't recall them..... All else gets recorded fine.

Am I missing something here????? ;)

Works ok when I program the atts for the Goldenscans -it's just the LEDs.

Does the profile (for the LED's) include a dimmer channel? If not that may well be your problem IIRC The desk will ignore any channel at intensity 0. Try adding a 'virtual' dimmer channel and adjusting your patching to leave empty DMX channels for them.

Hope that makes sense!

Yep - makes sense - do indeed have an intensity channel on the profile, but of course it's not used as each individual colour has it's own att.

The profile has:

1: Intensity

14: Red

15: Green

16: Blue

87: Macro

41: Strobe

35: FX

(The latter 3 are about the closest I can see on the att list to what these lanterns do!)

Now - on a brainwave, I just thought of an option...

Re-recorded the sub, but with the intensity wound up to FL.

That had another odd effect - as soon as the sub fader leaves '0', the preset att for the channels selected came on FULL, and stayed there - even when the fader is brought down!!

;)

Well you can make the colours fade. Kinda..... Give the sub some times, it will then fade the colour atts.

Unfortunately as far as I can remember there is no way to have any att return to a default value. (It may be possible to bodge something in a very round about way.)

You may find it easiest to patch the LED's as 3 channels, as opposed to as an intelligent fixture. (assuming you have the free channels!)

Not sure this would work.....

Hang on tho - just thinking on 't....

Logic is starting to filter through the grey matter!! ;)

I was thinking that the fade on the sub should be fading up the atts, BUT it doesn't, does it!!? The atts should remain as they are, but may not be recognised by the sub fader.......

Hence my problem. I was also thinking in the mode of how a CMY fixture would do it, but that was also wrong - as a normal CMY still has a bubble with intensity control behind it - thus with the atts set, all you'd do then is light it up and presto. With the LEDs the atts for colour are NOT th same!!

Oh well - wasn't important for the show, but glad I figured it out!!

mmmm. You are starting to confuse me.....

By fade the atts I meant that the atts will fade from their existing value to the value recored in the sub. So as MarcT says, you can use a sub that fades them to nothing to do the fade-out. (Because they would otherwise stay at the value in the sub, being LTP n all.)

If you patch the colour atts as if they are just single intensity channels you will have the kind of HTP control you want.

Just wanted to confirm that the sub is not "Timed" in the Sub properties page? It sounds like you want the values to follow the position of the sub handle in a manual way.
