Gazlights Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Hey Ladies and Gents how the hell are ya? Happy New year..... Just a quick couple of questions for anyone so kind to give me some advice! I'm a fairly new programmer and have been working with a rig consisting of 6 Mac 300's (FOH), 8 250 Entours (above stage), 4 mac 250's (2MS and 2 DS), 4 Martin Robocolour 1220's (FOH) and 4 robo 400's (Starcloth)....complemented by loads of old knackered leko's/Source4 and par64's w coloram scrollers.....Now I've figured out how to change motors and clear errors on many of the movers but there are a few things ive not managed to sort out...I just wondered if anyone from the good ol blue room would be able to point me in the right direction... Managed to sort out pan/tilt errors by replacing knackered motors and the other errors cleared up after giving the sensors a good clean. the only one I'm left with now is ShER (Short error) on one of the 300's. The fixture works fine and lamps on/off as it should so I dont understand what the error is? is the lamp relay on its way out? I've been told to just leave it but these things begin to bug me after a while! anything I can do? Also the lenses are cracked on a few of the Robocolour 1220's causing a horrible black line in two of the beams and cutting its size in half, all four also dont focus properly. I've made inquiries about maybe getting some replacement lenses and parts and have been told that I cant get them for this type of fixture because they dont make them anymore....I find that quite hard to believe but nontheless I'm thinking of getting rid of all four because they are a pain in the ass. Not sure if I'd like to replace them with similar scans because to be honest I dont like using them and I cant really see anything new thats much better than the 1220.... Can anyone make any recommendations of what I could replace them with? Hopefully something that would compliment the functionality of the current rig and give me more options whilst programming shows.....budget is not really an issue :P Cheers ears
saturnx21 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Hi all You say the ShER is a "short error"? now I'm not to hot on martin error codes but I've never heard of a short error so I am just wondering is it a shutter error? You also say that you have four "robocolour 1220s" and then go on to say you don't know if you should replace these with similar "scans" so do you mean roboscan 1220s? If you do then you can get certain parts from martin and there are a number of people who can supply you with spares (even one or two on here as I have found as I have 8 roboscan 1220s) HTH :P

This can occur if the lamp relay is stuck.• The fixture may be operated but remote lamp on/off may be effected. My bad....I did indeed mean roboscan 1220's....you have 8? poor thing right I need 4 new iris's and a whole bunch of replacement lenses then......in that case I guess I'll just email martin! Still would be interested in any suggestions for replacements though!
saturnx21 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Hi Gazlights I personally love the roboscan 1220s!!! I don't think martin will have any irises but if you get in contact they'll soon tell you what parts they do have! On the replacement front, that really depends on your budget if you want to stick with scanners then the martin 918 is their current equivalent to the 1220 but if you want a reliable but cost effective scanner then I would recommend the Silverstar ones. :P
hippocrocaphant Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 ShEr is a short error, this means that the lightsensor has detected enough light to think that the lamp has been struck without a lamp on command being sent. This usually menas that you have powered the unit up in a bright environment and left the head covers off. If the error comes up when the fixture has the covers on I would suggest that you have a problem with the light sensor itself.
