entersoundman Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Xmas Greetings People... I went to See Iron Maiden at Earls Court last Week (the Friday show). What an awesome gig! The power down half-way through made it even more unique - What exactly happened backstage? Does any one have some Tech info.. e.g. LX (movers, number of Par Cans, control) and some sound specs? The set was amazing - does anyone have any interesting facts and figures? Thanks,Tom
Matt-onstage Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Hi, I can't help with the exact specifics of the sound or light production but I know maiden are using the EAW KF760 Line Array on the tours, uk and us. I was gonna go to the earls court show to hear the rig but never made it there. bummer. matt
NeilW Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Hi All audio production for the Iron Maiden tour was handled by ML Executives. As mentioned, main PA was EAW KF760 with KF761 downfills, SB100 subs, KF300 infills, and a bunch of turbosound TMS-3s. These were all powered by Lab gruppen amps and driven by XTA DP226s, with XTA GQ600s as well. FOH Desk is a Heritage 3000, monitor desk for maiden is an XL3, and the support acts on the tour were using a PM4000 out front and a M7CL on stage. Lighting was by Neg Earth I believe, the tour rig was largely bars-of-six and mac 2000s, wholehog 2 with wing for control. Didnt really venture too far into lighting world tho :) Dont know too many more specifics about earls court, other than what the sound crew were planning when I met up with them a couple of weeks ago, think the delay hangs were going to be VDOSC. I havent been into the warehouse since the gig to find out what happened with the power issue. Hope that is of some use Neil
entersoundman Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 Thanks Neil. Sounds like a mighty set-up. I mailed Neg Earth for some info.
entersoundman Posted January 3, 2007 Author Posted January 3, 2007 I mailed Neg Earth, but have had no reply It would be great to know a bit more about the LX. Thanks, Tom
Nicktaylor Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Any company who has people spare to reply to chat rooms will surely go bust!I say this knowing someone who has been left seriously out of pocket when this has happened
itinerant baker Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 I mailed Neg Earth, but have had no reply :) Hey, it is xmas/new year. They might still be recovering! :edit: for clarity.
paulears Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Moderation: PLEASE - don't cross post. There is another thread on exactly the same subject. I have deleted that one - thanks to the members who pointed out the duplication.
colourwatt Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Went on the Saturday.......OH the lighting trusses moved, not just up-down but each of the 3 main trusses had 4 or 5 double hinges, so each truss could snake to lots of positions. A programable hoist controller must have been used (Kenseys???),as used by Neg Earth for Depeche Mode Jan-May 2006. A very simple, straight, forward lighting setup on first appearance (6 lamp bars & ACl's on straight trussing until about 30 mins in. So lots of careful delicate hoist programing would be needed. The downstage truss (for general illumination of band & set) static 10 six lamp bars with about 12 8 lite units pointing FOH. The upstage truss was for numerous backdrops that Maiden tend to use. All the truss borders/scrims were of a camo material.Upstage left & right hung verticaly 2 more trusses each holding 12-14 moving wash lights (studio colors?????)A full kabuki reveal was used at the start. No pyro was used.Set (built by Hangman??????) a large tank complete with gun turret rose from behind the drum riser!!!!!!!!!Eddie then popped out to survey the scene using binoculars. Signing off now The Anorack
entersoundman Posted January 4, 2007 Author Posted January 4, 2007 Thanks Colourwaatt. I noticed the tuss moved too....nice!
NeilW Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Each of the moving trusses was picked up on six 1 Tonne Lodestar motors, with a further two used as moving cable picks, all controlled by a Skjonberg CHC 30 Control System. Neil
Guest steve113 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 The Rig has various moving trusses. For the UK legs the rig has Mac2000s. If I remember rightly Studio Colours are being used in other countries. The rig has #### loads of of parcans, ACLS and moles. Control is from a Hog 2 with a wing. Martin Brennan is the designer. Martin designed through spirit design where he works full time. PLEASE DO NOT bombard Neg with emails asking these sort of questions. no doubt if you wait a while there will be a press release in the lsi. Neg Earth are a production company, not a question and answers forum that is what this place is for. hassle emails will do you no favors particurally if you want to at some point work for a company such as neg earth. I am not representing neg directly, but as a freelancer. no messages or emails to me please I have told you everything I know.
Guest Nathan Brown Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Nice one Neil, the delays were v-dosc there was 6 per side and there were also 6 arcs a side on the delays. they were all powered with lab 6400s and crossoverererered with xta dp226's. there was also some extra 760, I think there was eight more. they toured with 40 760's, 18761's, 24 sb1000s as well as the kf300s and the lovely (or not) tms3!there will be an article in the TP magazine sometime.
stormster Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 I know martin brennan reasonable well, and will ask and see if he fancies responding to answer the questions.
