Harvey_51 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Hi I am going to buy flightcase for my jester lighting desk and my dimmer pack, how do I know what size flightcase I need to get Jordan Harvey
mumbles Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Start by finding the dimensions of both the desk and dimmer. Now you know how big the space inside a flightcase needs to be. If you look at a website such as flightcase warehouse and search through their cases, you may find one with the correct internal dimensions for what you want. Alternatively, speak to the company, and enquire about custom made cases, and give them the int dimens you require, and talk about how it should open/fasten and so on.
the kid Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Remember PSU's/cables with the desk and cables with the dimmer. Yo dont want to be getting a exact size and then finding out you have no room for the power.
gareth Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Any decent flightcase manufacturer will be able to make you something that fits if you tell them exactly what equipment it is that you have. But you have to be specific and give the right information - "I need a flightcase for my dimmer pack" is next to useless.
bruce Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Also, ask yourself whether you really want one flightcase for the desk+dimmer pack (as the original post suggests) or separate cases for each. I'd go for the latter.
pete LD Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 If you call flightcase warehouse (or any flight case company) and say, "can I have a quote for a case to fit a z88 jester" they will look up the product on tinterweb and will ask all the questions they need to know, is it to be used in the case, heavy duty touring or sitting in a corner of a hall? do you want space for cables etc. Then you order it! I'm with Bruce on the separate case for dimmers and desk, don't put them together thats a bad idea!hthPete
gunner Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 If you call flightcase warehouse (or any flight case company) and say, "can I have a quote for a case to fit a z88 jester" they will look up the product on tinterweb and will ask all the questions they need to know I'm with pete on this. I'm about to do the same for a jester 24/48 and this by far the easiest way I've found.
johnhuson Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I generally work on the basis of telling them the product you want to case rather than giving them the dimensions, that way if it's wrong when you get it you have some come back. If you give them the dimensions it's more difficult. As mentioned above most case manufacturers will have designs already for common products, but if it is a custom case getting them to come and measure it and discuss it is always the best option. Though they might be less inclined if your a one off customer. A lot of dimmer racks are rack mount so that's pretty simple, all you need to know is the depth of rack case you want. We are graced with the luxury of having three flightcase suppliers in the same city as us so were a little spoilt. One thing I will say is you certainly get what you pay for when it comes to flight cases, so you need to think about how much hammer it's going to get on the road, if it's a lot it's worth spending more. If you want more information feel free to PM me and I'll give you some more in-depth views on our experiences with different manufacturers. Finally make the decision on supplier for yourself, just because several people on a public forum suggest that X manufacturer are good for them, doesn't mean they will be good for you. That advice extends to whatever your purchasing!
CPlater1 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 http://www.terralec.co.uk/prod.asp?I=16677...ENE_SETTER_CASE The Jester 24/48 fits this case perfectly. You would need to remove the rack mounts, but you can get the desk in with power supply, gaffer tape, memory stick, DMX cable etc. My school bought the case to prolong the life of our Jester. Hope that helps Chris
dave singleton Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Zero 88 sell a case to fit the desk. I will check at work, but I'm sure they arnt too badly priced either.
