henny Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 is there a way to output into CobraNet system from a windows pc, eg is there a driver that will allow windows programs to see a network feed in to CobraNet as a sound card also can this same idea be used for input to the pc? cheers ian
Simon Lewis Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Ian, As far as I'm aware, no. I'd love to be shown that this is possible, but I think that the hardware / firmware is tied up with their Cobranet cards only? However, it would be worth thinking how Stardraw manages to talk to Cobranet... Simon
mackerr Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Do you already have a Cobranet infrastructure? There are no software codecs for Cobranet or Ethersound as far as I know. There is however a software codec for Telos Axia networked audio, the Axia IP audio driver for Windows. Axia is pretty easy to use once you get past the "sources and destinations" terminology, and the fact that when they talk about channels, they are talking about AES channels of 2 audio channels each. Each network node has 16 audio channels in, and 16 out. Mac
northernaudioman Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Hi, Digigram do various sound cards that will enable a PC to send / receive CobraNet and Ethersound. http://www.digigram.com/products/getinfo.htm?prod_key=11000 http://www.digigram.com/products/getinfo.htm?prod_key=13750 Distributed in the UK by: Community UK - Stuart Thompson - 0141 440 5333 Regards & Happy Christmas Oliver.
whitlock Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 unfortunately this is as far as I'm aware not possible to use a standard PC network card to push audio onto a cobranet network, as the audio data is not transmitted in a way that a standard network card can read (its layer 2 not layer 3), however the control data is transmitted over standard computer protocols on layer 3 this may not be 100% right, but thats what I can remember about it (and dig up from a quick google) at the moment Simon w
