Currtail Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Hi All, Some years ago at PLASA I saw a dry ice machine that was huge, both in size and output. It had a large CO2 cylinder strapped to the back of it and I presume a water tank somewhere. Switch it on and you'd get reasonable levels of fog output until the gas and/or water ran out, or if you turn it up to the max you'd get a huge amount fog until the water heater couldn't cope. It was great! Can't seem to find it easily on the web and Stage Electrics don't recall it. Does anyone else remember this monster? Better still do you know what its called and where I could hire one? Cheers, Currtail.
Ike Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Don't know the machine in question. Most of the big foggers tend to use liquid nitrogen or liquid air. Back Stage Technologies do some stupidly high output units for themeparks etc.
obsoperator Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 This one uses dry ice, not a CO2 tank, but it's a very powerful unit, that I've used:http://www.citytheatrical.com/fogss6000.htm(USA-made, but this company does much custom work)
paulears Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Not much help, but I remember them and think they were Canadian?
mikienorth Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Not much help, but I remember them and think they were Canadian? In which case try MDG, they're Canadian, and make reasonably large flightcased low smoke machines.Off to look for the link... Which is below...MDG Ice Fog pdf file Currently have on in on hire from HSL in Blackburn. Its very nice and very effective...
Currtail Posted December 22, 2006 Author Posted December 22, 2006 Great stuff. Thanks for that folks, I think the MDG is the device I saw, as it was definatly a CO2 machine. Cheers, Tim.
JMC Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Yup, definately MDG... Fantastic beasts! I hear tell they came into existance to supply battlefield smoke generators... serious stuff!
