Dave S Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Has anyone found a way to get a decent stained glass colour effect using gels with a gobo?
gareth Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Yes. (Gobos 73611 to 73615, towards the bottom of the page.)
Bryson Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Or for something a bit more abstract, I've used sharp breakup, shuttered to a window-like shape, with a multiple split colour gel and knocked slightly out of focus. Gives you a softer, less in-your-face effect.
GregB Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 I have the luxury of having a glass worker next to the theatre who will make "colourizers" to my secifications, they look great and work well. PM me if you would like one.
dbuckley Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Its a pity you're not in New Zealand, as a group I work with has a couple of real stained glass windows, made at significant expense for a show (Godspell maybe?) a goodly number of years ago, which apart from a month on stage have spent their entire lives in a number of large boxes loitering in the tech lockup. Gobo stained glass - pah. As a kid, I saw the (I think) iron Maiden "stained glass" tour, and they used 35mm projectors for their stained glass windows.
pyromonkey Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 maybe this is what your looking for Lx Store
woody74 Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 maybe this is what your looking for Lx Store I have done this very effect, and it looks great, especially when actors pass through it. The reality of stained glass is that if you are close to it, you get multiple colors on you, but the further away you are, the more the colors blend together (unless it's a crystal clear day and the sun is coming directly in the window). -w
