indirules Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Hey guyz, I wud appreciate any help regarding rain effects. We need to create rain onstage but the rules state that water is not allowed. We tried with rice grains but the time taken for sweeping is too much. ANY IDEAS?Esp technical/electronic/electrical ones?
JimWebber Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Hi there! I would be looking at one or more animation discs, (try the DHA range) these can actually be quite effective, especially when slightly out of focus. Not the brightest of effects though, so you will either have to use a powerful (or efficient) profile, or plot the ambient light levels very carefully... HTH Jim
J Pearce Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 How about some form of snow machine (mechanical, not foam based) filled with transparent snow?

andy_s Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 not such a bad idea - or perhaps two of these
thelightbulb Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 or indeed a vacuum and empty the bag back in to the system
Tomo Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 or indeed a vacuum and empty the bag back in to the systemNot such a good idea unfortunately, due to the amount of dust, sawdust, splinters, bits of glass etc that tends to accumulate in a vacuum cleaner.

He didn't say "on the stage' - he said "in a vacuum cleaner." Even then, crap you don't want accumulates onstage during performance anyway. I wouldn't reuse stuff. We're doing a glitter drop in the current show, and despite the stage being thoroughly cleaned each time we reset, by the end of the show there's nasty stuff all over the place.
Stegga Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 I would have thought that projecting it some how would be a better bet - quicker, safer, cleaner, cheeper?
