A hire company sells 8 cabinets that have 15" woofers, 12" mid and 1.4" high transducers. They have painted blue, and looks like Turbosound models. They told us that they are original Turbosound but 12" mid with 15" woofer seemed me a little strange. Their model numbers are erased and they are seemed to be old. Are there any Turbosound models have these spec. ? :D

I cannot remember a model with those specs, someone else may be able to.

From memory the closest I can think of are the TMS2 (15/10/1) TXD560 (15/10/1)

and the TMS5 (12/10/1).

Hopefully someone else can help.

I'm with Rob, that loading seems a little odd. What shape are the cabinets? Are they square or trapezoidal? Not a combination I'm aware of from my 15+ years of working with blue boxes.

My gut feeling is that they are not "Turbosound" but people seem to think if they paint a cab blue then they can sell it as "Turbosound".

I'd contact the guys at Turbosound to confirm whether this is the case or not

I wonder if it's really, really old; decades ago I humped a gig that had a very early turbo system (Steve Hillage at Liverpool Uni!), and the rig had three discreet turbo-mids per side, and I'm fairly sure they were twelves.

looked through my manuals and brochures from olden days and here are the nearest cabs I can find

TMS-2 15"/10"/1"

TMS-4 18"/10"/1"

TMS-5 15/10/1"

TSE-111 10"/1"

TSE-211 2x 10"/1"

TL-1561 15"/6.5"/1"

THL-4 18"/10"/1"

TFS-780H 12"/6.5"/2x1"

TFL-760H 12"/6.5"/1"

The only system that's older than the TSE and TMS would be the original Festival system but that was a split system not a mutiple component cab system like you describe.

Think they're pretending to be something they're not.

Ask them for the model number

Dear Boran

I noticed your mail and did some checking back. As most of these mails indicate Turbosound have never made a product with this component set. We've made some weird one-offs, some monster drum-fills etc but never with a 15" and a 12". A 15" and a 10" yes. A 12" and a 6.5", yes.

What I'd recommend is you try to get a photo of these cabs so we can be 100% these are a weird, custom job back from the early 80s (records were a little hazy due to the special smoke around in those days ;) )

But if you are being sold these cabinets I'd politely refuse or ask for a massive discount as these aren't Turbosound cabinets.

If you, or any other posters, ever need any assistance with regards to Turbosound please get in contact with us. We're here to help.

Regards

I'll take a photo of them in a couple of days, but my thought is they aren't a Turbosound cabinets now.And I think they can be really bad replicas of TMS-2. I have looked at Turbosound's ftp archive and couldn't find TMS-2's pictures. Anybody have one? Little ones are welcome to, only for look if they are similar.

Edit: Google just given me a couple of pictures and they are totally different structure.Their speaker alignments look like TXD 252.(Horn for HF, others look through)
