dbuckley
One of the things I'm often asked to do is to provide an additional set of speakers somewhere like a lobby, and it always causes me grief to find the right amplifier. A single channel amplifier. When I was younger I had a few old WEM 100w slaves, which were ideal for the task, but they went long ago, and I've nver really had a satisfactory substitute. But I've found my dream little amp, and thought I'd share in case someone else has the same frustration. http://images1.thomann.de/pics/prod/162094.jpg Full info here. It's little more than an LM3886 in a box. Its about 36w into 8 ohm, and claimed 50w into 4 ohm. The only drawback is that the output comes on two wires, as it's designed to be mounted on the back of a control-1, but it's easy to add a speakon output socket. Input is balanced, which is much better than the old WEM slaves, yay. Just a word of warning - if you do go drilling, which will invalidate your warranty, take the torrioidal out so you dont drill it...
Pete Alcock
Thanks for the tip! A lot cheaper than the Canford Audio version Pete.
