whitters
First of all, I am a new member so if I have posted this in the wrong place I apologise! We have a projector in our lecture theatre which is mounted on a ceiling pole approx. 1 metre long, the projector is 4 metres above ground level. The projector is above seating (which can be removed) and the seating is on stepped levels (like any theatre). Can anyone suggest the best way to gain access to this (filter cleaning etc.) I have been tasked with finding various options for access to the projector (other than big stepladders as always used before, H&S dept stopped us!). We have a company coming to demonstrate a tower, I prefer to try and have some way of lowering the projector, either on a telescopic pole or a something similar, as this removes completely the working at height issue. Cheers
broadcast_techie
rig it lower? our lecture theater projector is within reach from the seating thus enabling it to be hit when not working... Generally you want the projector to remain in a fixed place, saves having to re align it everytime. Perhaps the longer pole will be cheaper than an access tower? (unless you have other needs for the tower?) Kris
Tomo
You will need access to the projector at its rigged position to focus it, regardless of where other maintenance is acheived. If the risk assessments say that focussing from the ladder is ok, then lowering the projector for maintenance would be a good solution. If focussing from the ladder is considered too risky, then you will need to find a suitable elevated work platform - Scaffolding, MEWP etc.
