Ynot
Done the expected and searched, as well as scanned the Lighting topics (til my brain numbed...), cos I am SURE we discussed this before, but can't for the life of me find the darned thread... Got a problem when trying to save a show on the 300 - it's fine if saving to a floppy, but a guest (minimal user priv's) tries to save to C 'drive' it won't let you - in fact you can't even see the show files already there. Now, if I re-log on as my ALL-POWERFUL admin user id, there's no problem. I've deleted all the old .ssf files (first thought) to no avail. Now - going to dive into the manual tomorrow when I have more time, but in case anyone can put their hand up and say "This is why" I thought I'd seek the wisdom!! Is it simply that users with less privilege can only save to floppies? May be not, cos I think other shows have been saved successfully from the same user ID.... Frosty.
Hi,Lighting desks have different access levels for this exact reason, you will probably find that while logged in as a guest user you will not have the right to do saves, this is to stop any unwantd deletion/ modding of cues without the "super user" knowing about it. Hope this Helps.Frosty. :P

I've not had chance to check the relevant levels of access the guest was set up with (it was created 2 years ago and my memory ain't that good!!). JMC
Out of interest why do you need a guest login for the console? Never encountered a venue that implimented it before..! With regard to the problem, I would agree, it's most likely to be an access rights issue.. If I recall you can check with [REPORT] -> {ADV SETUP} -> {ACCESS RIGHTS} In the guest.usr file in c:\220os, you should have the following line; acc_show_loc =
Ynot
Out of interest why do you need a guest login for the console?Quite simple. We're a predominantly am-dram venue with quite a few LX users, with varying degrees of experience/knowledge. I got fed up with coming to use the desk myself and finding half a dozen different patches on the various saved shows, and not one of them being the one that I've 'decreed' as being the house standard plot! Fair enough, I could keep a locked floppy with that plot but that doesn't help when I'm not around and someone cris 'help' cos the desk doesn't match the paper records!! So - we keep the standard rig, with standard patch, and anyone who needs extras patching in for a show must request them in advance, and one of us with full rights will do the necessary. Add to that there were some people who liked to fiddle with the settings to change to unusual options - esp if they've used the desk elsewhere. Which is fine if they'd change it back when done, but those responsible have seldom even said they've done the deed, so again, when another group comes in, I get the call to come see why the desk isn't behaving as normal.
