projecting water effects

Hello

I wonder if anyone can help me? I have to create a water effect on either side of a stage, I will be using a gobo for the actual water effect but I'm not sure of the best fabric to project on. What fabric takes projection well taking into consideration a small budget? also if anyone can recommend a place to hire such fabrics within the Nottingham area, that would be great.

thanks in advance for any help I receive

Look for a material with the effect of Satin, ie a glossy surface. Ideally a very light grey.

In the past we've also added a small moving fan to create a ripple effect.

As with all of these ideas its trial and error to find the look your after.

Best of luck

Have you seen a water wave effects projector in action ? http://www.lifeismusic.co.uk/lights/Wild-T...erwave-466.aspx see movie link They are not as good as you can achieve but for low cost and minimal effort they are suitable in some applications. I have one with a 250 watt ELC lamp and it has a reasonable punch. Main disadvantage is you either have a colour scroll occurring or you set a colour.

Hire sources in the Nottingham Area:

Specialist Theatrical Services (STS) 0115 9854062

Hawthorn Theatrical 01664 821111

I have no connection with either of these business, but I do use both companies.

thank you

Thanks for the link, I'm hoping to borrow a source 4, plus gobo and rotating head, but it's good to know what's out there incase I need to invest.

Thank you

thanks Adrian,

for those contact details, I hear that STS do cloths etc for hire so they may be the best option.
