Solstace
Came across these while looking for 1U power amplifiers for our system earlier today. DPA 7200 Digital Power Amplifier Has anyone used them? To my eye they certainly look too good to be true! Meanwhile, since space is a premium in our system racks and I can't get rid of our 2 tape decks just yet, I'm in need of some decent compact power amps. I need at least 2 channels of 300W per 1U of rack space (to replace our existing system to equivalent spec)... So, hit me people! Does anyone make anything decent in this range any more? Have seen the Powersoft range on the Beyerdynamic website, which seem (on paper at least) to be a better looking bet... Cheers all!
london sound
We now only use Powersoft and so far very pleased. We have 2 Digam 1404 and 1 Digam 7000 10kw in 3U!!! one hand carry Using 7000 for FoH and 1404's for monitors. Ian
Chris Snow
Assuming your after more than 2 channels then maybe, Camco vortex 3 Quattro, 4 channels of 490 W @ 8 Ohm 4 channels in 2U.Not a cheap but its a good amp and even goes down to 2 Ohm, apparently. Use one regularaly with Nexo PS10's and sub and does the job well. Chris
Shaggy
It's not rated to 2 ohm, but I haven't had it die on me running 2 ohm. It's not that powerful though. And the fact that its 2u makes this irrelevant given that powersoft also do a 4channel 1u amp iirc.
Rob_Beech
Good results with powersoft amps. use them for my FOH. digam 7000's and 5000's keep them clean inside and you'll not go far wrong. although maybe the digam 7000 is on top of what you need being over 3 times what you spec at 8ohms let alone 4 or 2). I'm currently after a couple of the higher powered 4 channel powersofts for my monitor rig. I know they're not cheap but neither is weeks off work with a bad back from lifting a rack of MA's or the like. Not when you're self employed anyway. james jag
just to add something different if you look at the picture of the amp it has a iec inlet on the back of it and if it is the high power verson with the pins turend through 90degees then it still is only rated at 15amp so how does it pull the 32amp it claims, maybe this is only the e.u. model and the u.s. model has a power cord built in to it, it claims alot of power for something that is small and has a iec on the back of it ? :)
ghance
Not 300w, but.. bought some DAP Cesium 300 -1U. 100w / ch for a touring art installation with surround sound. needed 18-way of amp in a small space.. reasonable build & sound. good price. but for gigging.. gotta be the lab gruppen FP6000 / 1000 .. 4 ch in 2U. lovely the DPA in the OP look ok. be interested to hear from anyone who uses them. .spike
StevieR
I was going to suggest looking at the new Lab Gruppen FP+ series amps but I see Spike has beaten me to it. Was checking these out at Plasa this year and I have never seen so much power in a Quad 2U amp! And still only 12kg! Not cheap, but incredible sound and reliability. We use these pretty much exclusively in our hire stock due to these facts. Steve
rob.d
Re the CAD Audio kit in the OP. Does anyone know anything about it? It looks very very sexy, and very cheap for what it is? I cant find any UK sites for it either. cheers Rob

Let alone 6200w at 2ohm it claims? I use these...FFA amps which are PWM like the DPA but use twin iec inlets...one for each side of the amp. Been utterly reliable and sound fantastic on sub / bass . .p.
