Steve_N Posted October 22, 2006 Share Posted October 22, 2006 What voltage do I need to run a Strand Colour Change Wheel? I found an old Strand colour change wheel today whilst having a clearout, which I would like to get going. The control box has gone missing, but I reckon I could get it to work with a multiway switch. The stepper motor is made by Sarmi Vallence(?), which runs via a gearbox to the central spindle. The wires to the motor are very thin, which makes me think that it is not mains. I have tried the Strand Archive and it does not appear. Any help would be appreciated. David A Posted October 23, 2006 Share Posted October 23, 2006 It could be 24 or 240 volt they made two versions, its not a stepper motor its a sychronous motor and gearbox.Try it on 24v first if it works your ok but its more likely to be 240, the wiring is thin as 30 years ago things were more lax.
