Jem 24/7 Low Output

I have just spent a few hours trying to get a Jem 24/7 working properly, fault is very low haze output.

Went through purge cycles, ran 40 percent white vinegar with distilled water, removed fluid feed from heater input to confirm fast feed, checked pump varies with different settings. Conclusion - partially blocked heater coil.

Removed insulation from around heater and it is a small diameter spiral tube wrapped around the heater block. Can only assume that design is meant to ensure fluid is fully vapourised before coming out the jet. But due to the length of the spiral tube and the fact that a lot of hirer's switch the hazer off as soon as they have finished using it without running an empty cycle, that this design is prone to failure.

I have recommended that it is not Worth getting a replacement heater as the same fault will occur.

Any comment or suggestion ?

We get this quite alot when hiring equipment out.

A rule of thumb is that if you hire gear out to venues/individuals, put together some sort of contract, stating that if such problems occur like this that they will be charge a repair fee.

Simply tell you hirer that they must run the unit on an empty cycle, or they will face an extra 25% charge for cleaning and maintenance.

Works well for us, and equipment always comes back in working order.

If this isnt the route you want to take, I suggest that you run the units on an empty cycle as soon as the y arrive back in your workshop.

Simple really...
