strand600X
Hi all Hope everyone is ok I am trying to create a plan of our latest show in WYG and have added 4 x VL1000TS's as they should be. I have given them a patch. The patch is on stream 2 so the first one is 513 etc. I have checked the patch against the one in the ligting control (520i). I have also added other lights i.e. fresnels profiles and HMI's with shutters.. The problem I have is the vari's are not doing what they should be doing when connected live to the desk. You put up the first vari to a position give it a gobo and intensity and it's there I can see it live on stage but when I look at WYG it hasnt done anything at all indeed there isn't even any light output...any one know what I am doing wrong?????? thanxBaz
Pete
Wild guess but have you patched the dimmer channel? Not sure how it works but there must be a way.

I think so Pete the patch on WYG seems to match the patch in the desk
Pete
Hmmm, what I mean is the TS uses an external dimmer, there must be a way to tell WYSIWYG which of your dimmer channels is the TS lamp. Don't have a copy of WYSIWYG in front of me, but pretty sure I'm on the right lines. Which desk are you using?

Nick S
Hmmm, what I mean is the TS uses an external dimmer, there must be a way to tell WYSIWYG which of your dimmer channels is the TS lamp. Indeed. And this channel might not be in the same universe of DMX (and probably won't be if all dimming is on one universe) as the rest of the control channels. The TS has a ballast but you don't address the ballast just the vari lite.we are using 4 vari lite's starting at DMX address 1 on universe 2 then DMX 28 on universe 2 then DMX 55 on universe 2 then 82 on universe 2. From the lighting control (which has the same patch) it works no problems... but on WYG I don't seem to be able to get it to work.I assume for universe 2 I need to patch the first vari to 513 and so on for the rest.Thanx for all your help peoplebaz
lampyguy999
The TS has a ballast but you don't address the ballast just the vari lite. Not an expert on using the VL product line with WYSIWYG but the VL1000 TS is a tungsten version (so therefore doesn't need a ballast) and doesn't have an internal dimmer. So I would assume that you need to patch the dimmer channel to one of your in house dimmers as you would with the tungsten version of the VL5. If however your sure that the versions you will be using does have an internal dimmer than you need to be patching for a VL1000 TSD. The VL1000 range is described as this, the first letter after the VL1000 is A for Arc or T for Tungsten, the second is S for Shutter (framing) or I for Iris, and finally if you have the tungsten source with internal dimmer then a D appears as the last letter. Hope that proves some help!

b1nuzz
Going to take a slightly different approach to this; Have you used the Live WYG before. Are the fresnels etc working in the WYG or is litterally nothing working? If so, there are lots more questions, but ill let you answer that before I get boged down with writing the others! It would appear that anything on stream 1 (ie 1>512) is working in live mode and anything on stream 2 (ie 513>1024) is not working in live mode. baz :D
Tomo
What physical interface are you using to get DMX from your desk into WYSIWYG? It sounds like Universe/Stream 2 isn't being sent to WYG.
strand600X
I am using WIFI from the desk/shownet system to my laptop. And using the strand msi. file in WYG. it does work but unsure about stream 2. I totally agree with you tommo it does seem that stream 2 is not been introduced into WYG. I know stream 2 is been sent by WIFI because I am using a SN102 node onstage as a monitor / remote control system also DMX stream 2 is been taken out of this for vari's and scrollers. b1nuzz
Have you got the NET output on the desk set to DMX OUT 001-2148 ? If not, it could be only outputting the first universe.
