bruce
I know, I know.....verging on the "off-topic"... :D ...but it's tenuously video-related I'm looking for something that can best be described as being like a video door entry system, but which will run over a low bandwidth IP network rather than a dedicated 4wire system. The application is a hotel where the night porter is covering 2 buildings, no private cabling between the buildings, but both have ADSL... I'm thinking of something aimed at the security market rather than a VoIP "corporate phone", and it should be "handset/appliance"-based rather than a PC-based thing - not wanting to go down the "PC+webcam" route. Has anyone come across anything like this?
Peter F
Not exactly what you are after but certainly heading the right direction: IP Camera with two way audio Regards, Peter
bruce
The " IP camera" option was our first thought. Disadvantage is that it needs a PC running at the "porter" end - they'd prefer a simple hardware device...
jhughes01
I don't know the model name, but I saw a demonstration of a Sony integrated IP video conference system that would accept up to 4 connections by IP. Didnt see the set-up, so I can't say how easy it would be.It had a tft screen with integrated camera, units could then be connected by standard ethernet. kalmatthew
Cisoc make an all in one video IP phone, but I dont know if it would be suitable for the door end.
