Valjean
hey I've just got a Behringer Feedback Destroyer pro (FBQ 2496) but the signal input keeps on clipping constantlyeven if I have no signal going to it. Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do to fix it or should I just send it back to behringer? Valjean
SteveB
When you say that the input clips I guess you mean that the clip LED is lit. Also with no signal do you mean that it is not plugged into any other equipment? If that is the case then it is likely that there is a fault with your feedback destroyer. Is it a new piece of gear or have you been using it and it has developed the fault? Regarding anyone else having problems, I have a couple of the earlier model and apart from being a bit noisy they have worked well. Most of the criticisms that I have heard come down to people expecting to much from them and/or being able to plug them in to an inadequate PA and have all their feedback problems solved automatically. kje-kev1459
hi, I had this problem with an ultracurv pro, only on one channel, seemed to be the chips themselves, so sent I back sounds like a smiler problem. good luck kev
johnhuson
One thing to be careful with budget kit like this (don't get me wrong I'm not knocking it, it has it's place!) make sure you get at least an estimate of repair costs, assuming it's out of warranty, before you return the unit. With kit that costs £100-200 to buy new, by the time you've had repair costs and added the cost of carriage, it's some times cheaper to throw the unit away and buy a new one. After all thats one of the reasons they can make it so cheap, no serviceability. I'm not saying however that this is the case with your unit, just a few words of caution. I’ve got one of the early 2496 Ultracurves that has recently developed a strange fault. Occasionally it sounds as though someone has plugged or unplugged the input cable. A loud crack and the meter registering a clip on the right hand channel. This only happens occasionally once or twice over the typical set up, soundcheck, gig time scale. I eventually isolated the problem to the graphic equaliser section of the unit. Given that it is a digital device I’m not sure why going to the bypass menu and bypassing the graphic cures the fault. They're very good about this and have even been known to do it (if you make a good case) for stuff recently out of warranty. However, the FBQ lists for £133 with a normal street value of under a hundred. If you CAN'T get a warranty replacement, there's very little chance of an economic repair. Valjean
Hey thanks for the help, theres nothing I can do about it so I'll just send it back to behringer.
jhughes01
I've had a similar clipping problem with the DACs on the Behringer digital mixer.Appears as a sudden signal on all channels - regardless of muting and routing. However, on the back of our feedback destroyer (older behringer model), the input level selector switches can stick despite the indication on the back - a couple of presses normally sorts it. But that would only effect it if there was an input signal
soundguymark
I've had this problem with the Behringer DDX3216 and it seems to happen when the mixer gets hot, once the peice of equipment has cooled down it goes back to normal and works fine. I know the offending mixer was put in a rack without a cut out for the fan, cutting the whole for the fan sorted the problem. HTH Mark
