Sourcing Socapex connectors

I've had a quick search in the forums and haven't come across any old posts that helped.

I'm needing to make up some Socapex to 16A female tails. Currently the tails are permanently wired into the dimmer but we want the dimmer to output to a Socapex connector. We have some Socapex to 16A male tails already, so all I need to do is remove the 16A connectors and wire them into the dimmer.

Ideally the connectors need to have solder terminals as I don't have a crimping tool available, I've looked on-line at RS and they have some connectors (PN: 429-861) but it doesn't say whether their crimp or solder terminals. Does anyone know which type they are?

Also is their a cheaper place to purchase Socapex connectors from?

Thanks,

Adam

P.S. After a comment from someone at the weekend I realised that the lighting install (done by an electrician) in a community centre was dangerously wrong. They'd installed female sockets to plug the output of the dimmers into. When he realised that he'd done it wrong, the electrician created some short 16A male to 16A male cables to correct the problem!!!! :)

It's been like that for almost two years, I'd never looked at it before. We're fixing that issue ASAP.

In comparison to the chassis female Andy posted from terralec prised £34 each, I paid around £11 each (+ vat) for what looks to be an identical connector.

hope that helps

It would help a whole lot more if you posted where you'd paid £11 for a chassis female soca! :D

Do Ceep sell directly to the end user, then? Their website doesn't really give that impression, and certainly doesn't have any sort of on-line ordering facility.

I belive they are trade only, and as such they dont sell over the web. however I have had no poblem dealing with them over the phone and fax.

Hmmm, interesting. I wouldn't have thought manufacturers like Ceep would've sold direct to an end user. Just to confirm, Ceep sold you a Soca chassis female connectors for around £11+vat per unit? And, bearing in mind that most buyers, including presumably the OP in this thread, would only be looking for smallish quantities, that price wasn't some sort of bulk pricing deal? As a 'trade' buyer myself (I work for the local authority who manage the venue at which I work - which uses quite a lot of Socapex connectors!), I think I'll be filing them away in the "useful people to know about" file. :D
