lifeisacabaret
Hi guys, I'm designing and opping a musical on a new Venue Profile next year, and I would very much like to do away with outboard fx and use all plug-ins. Obviously I cant make a final choice on verbs until tech rehearsals and soundchecks when I hear them in the system as a whole, but just for the purposes of my spec sheet, I was wondering if any of you who've used the Venue system could give me an idea for the following (whether to use ReVibe, D-Verb or ReverbOne) on various sources:- (the musical is Bat Boy, so 'West Side Story-like' realism isnt necessarily the primary concern).. Bat Boy Verb (has his own verb for extra control, and for 'other-worldlyness')Main Vocal VerbReverend Hightower Verb (evangelical preacher...lots of echo, and a 'big' sound) Band Verb (5-piece rock band- 2 keys, guitar, bass, drums) Any advice would be great....just to reiterate....these obviously may not be my final choices, but I need to put something on my spec sheet, so some rough ideas would be great. Cheers guys! (also- anyone opped a musical on either type of Venue? any operating and programming tricks?)
sheridan
I might be wrong, but if I remember last time I installed the D-Show I was asked for specific reverbs and they all appeared with the VenuePack which came with v2.0. Therefore, as long as you put the pack on the spec, they'll all be there anyway, so making an exact choice at this stage isnt too important.... As for operating and programming things, just watch the way VCAs are handled...even channels in Safe still seem to be affected by VCA changes (so Im told), and make sure you get a console with the latest software since VCA handling for theatre was slightly buggy in the earlier versions. You should probably contact Orbital regarding using the Digidesign Venue for musical theatre. They are using it for this purpose.
