jayselway
Hey folks, I have a little Antari Smoker (with wireless remote), that's really handy for the smaller jobs, however it's got a problem! It wasn't used for a while, and has become blocked. The pipe from the little pump to the heating chamber is fine, and it's trying to pull fluid through, but struggles to get it through the chamber. Does anyone have any cleaning tips to revive it? Cheers as always Jay :(
Trundle
Terralec Sell the Smoke Machine Cleaning Fluid, If not, Our smoke machine at school was doing this but this was due to the pump no longer working. Tom
ben.suffolk
Running white vinegar and distilled water through it works well. Just don't do it indoors! About 10% vinegar. EDIT: Changed my mind on the percentage :) Regards Ben
jayselway
Cheers, guys - I'll give that a run through and let you know the result. A theatre tech who used to freelance for me mentioned the vinegar one, and said to make sure I did it outdoors, when the office next door had closed for the day! :) Ta! jayselway
Just a quick update (it won't let me add to my last post)..... Ran White vinegar mixed with distilled water through it, and it appears to have sorted the problem. :D Bit whiffy though!
sparkyweb
Ran White vinegar mixed with distilled water through it, and it appears to have sorted the problem. ;) Most of the time, that can sort out problems. As an aside, I have noticed the pumps on these machines don't last much longer than about 18months
Pete Alcock
As an aside, I have noticed the pumps on these machines don't last much longer than about 18months I've found exactly the same. I pulled the pump out of the reservoir and unscrewed from the pump body, the end that connects to the chamber. Inside is a little cylinder that bobbles back and forth to pump the fluid through. This is sealed with some tiny O rings that (in my machines) had become hard and weren't sealing properly. I replaced them and it all came good. Careful when you unscrew the pump though - there are many small pieces and a spring that can go ping at the last minute. Pete.
Mr Brightside
Have to say I ran a 69p bottle of Sarsons White Vinegar neat through a mates smoke machine that he was convinced would never work again, within a short while it was working to perfection, so its a very handy and great tip, cheers for that!
