mwarren Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Hello, I'm looking for a bit of advice and this looks like the place to come. I''ve got a business HND and degree, currently work in Marketing/E-Business and can't stand it. I just dont get along with the 'office' environment and find it difficult to sit still for 9 hours a day. Now before you start thinking that I'm looking for an easy way out - thats not the case. My dad owns a commercial building company building/refurbishing offices and everthing else that goes with it. I've worked for him many a time from a young age and during/after uni and loved it - really hard work, but thats what I enjoy. I've always wanted to be an electrician but as I finished college, uni seemed the next step for me. My old man wont let me work directly for him as a) I dont have any qualifications in the building trade, b) becuase I dont wont to be a 'builder' and c) becuase he wants me to find my own way in life. So here I am now, still with the same ambition to become an electrician so I thought that I should do something about it. I'm 23 now and want to get the ball rolling as I dont want to leave it any longer and end up being another guy in a suit. Dont get me wrong, I've got a pretty decent job, but if you cant stand to sit in an office, then why sould you - you only live once as they say. I've done a bit of research, but really need some advice on the best route to take. I cant really affoard to quit work and take a few years out, so I suppose I'm looking for something as quick as possible. Then again, I dont want to do something quick if its not going to be any good. Any help is appreciated.
Brian Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Hi Loads of Info on the Learn Direct Website And this next bit may seem a bit harsh but...the Blue Room is a forum specifically for technical issues connected with work 'backstage' and so I'm locking this topic.
