Mattyboy74 Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Hi Wonder if anyone out there can help...... Back in the 80's and with the protective facet of Vari*Lite Innovations all on-site fixture repair had to be carried on inside a hospital tent of sorts. A small construction that would cover a work bench and a technician to allow repairs to occur without exposing the guts of the early fixtures. As Vari*Lite is now in it's 25th year of manufacture I am keen to recreate this marvel of technological masking at an event coming to us all real soon now...... Only question is..... Does anyone know where on earth I can lay my hands on one of the original tents!
Guest lightnix Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 An interesting-sounding project, although such tents were no longer in use by the time I did my training in August 1990 and to be honest, this is the first time I've actually heard mention of them. What we used to do whenever possible (by the time I'd arrived and secrecy wasn't quite the issue it first was), was to set up the hospital in a small backstage room, somewhere slightly away from the mayhem. Apart from PRG in Greenford, you could try contacting Andy Voller, who's V*L experience pre-dates mine by a few years; he may be able to help. Moderation: Sorry guys but this thread has now attracted far too many 'personal chat' posts which I've now hidden to keep the old signal-to-noise ratio up.
