Jammie300 Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Hi everyone, Every so often this desk locks up and you cannot control anything. What it does it goes into program mode automatically, then locks up completely. The other bummer is that ALL the lanterns go off. Also on the desk the DMX Out LED is off and not flickering as it usually does. What we have to do to get it working again is turn the desk off and wait 5 seconds before we turn it back on The desk is the 12/24 version. The Alcora Controls Two Betapack 2. Jammie300
mumbles Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 First thought is to try posting on the zero 88 support forum as well, as they may have a better idea. Presumably you're doing this when writing cues, or during a show. My old school's alcora had problems with the cue stack mode, so was run almost entirely in single preset mode, and cues were written to be far enough apart. Also has problems with the channel faders which stick like anything (making it more difficult to run in preset mode), and recently when the grand master is at full, the lights flash randomly. Have persuaded the school to put some money aside for a new desk, especially as the alcora they have is 6 or 7 yrs old, but apart from that there isn't much I can suggest.
Jammie300 Posted July 7, 2006 Author Posted July 7, 2006 No it happens during normal mode when we are operating the desk manually. I.e fading the lanterns manually using NO cues
ianknight Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Sounds like two things - some of the IC's need re-seating (they creep out of their sockets with use) and one or more faders may need replacing. Your local Zero88 Service Centre (or us) should be able to check the desk over and sort it - and it will potentially be cheaper than replacing the desk.
Jammie300 Posted July 11, 2006 Author Posted July 11, 2006 Thanks for that idea. I will bear it in mind
